Doc Tipring steps out of his house to fetch the paper and is stabbed to death. No one saw the killer.

 

When Theo investigates, there are more questions than answers. Why were there thirty-two tile mosaics on the wall? What do they mean? What did the note Why run backwards you'll vomit, found in the victim's pocket, mean?

 

When the case stalls, Theo turns to Sophia Evans at MI5. They learn that MI5 has kept a file on Doc.

 

Unfortunately, all of the pages are encoded.

 

Sophia, although eager to help, has a complicated life of her own. Still dealing with the death of her boyfriend, her team leader Liam Foxton sends her on another assignment that leads them from arm’s dealing to the horrors of human trafficking and organ harvesting.

 

Then, just when it seems the Tipring case will run cold, a new stabbing case lands in Theo's lap, one that reveals a calculated plot that connects both murders. And time is running out for the next victim.
